MEDICAL MISSION

Health:

The health of a community can only be as strong as the well being of its citizens. Through generous contribution of time, talent, funds, materials and supplies from individuals, foundations, and businesses, NPU-USA seeks to address healthcare improvement issues. NPU-USA focuses on initiatives that alleviate the health problems that confront the under-served and uninsured, in particular drug addiction and its associated diseases including HIV/AIDS. NPU-USA supports advocacy programs for better health care and social services for children and youth as well as for a comprehensive system of universal health care. Of particular concern is the support of efforts to combat childhood lead paint poisoning and mental health disorders

Areas of interest include:

Building healthcare centers and support existing community hospitals
Supporting basic health care programs to assure the well being of community members of all ages
Promoting health awareness and preventive programs
Family planning and reproductive health
HIV/AIDS
Hunger and nutrition
Children's health
Public health
School-based health services
Community-based health clinics
Health care for the uninsured
Providing international volunteers to work in the cottage hospital and health centers
Working in partnership with the Nigerian Government, the World Health Organization, American Red Cross, the U.S. Peace Corps, and non-governmental organizations for healthcare improvements.
