MEMBERSHIP

Membership to the organization is open to the general public including Nri sons and daughters either by birth or marriage, Nri son-in-laws who reside in North America (United States, Canada, Mexico, etc) and any person of good character who wants to identify with NPU-USA in achieving its goals and objectives. The current membership is over 200.

The organization is subdivided into seven geographic zones in United States.

  • Atlanta Zone: It includes the states of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee,
  • Midwest Zone: It includes states of Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, etc.
  • National Capital Territory Zone: It includes states of District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia
  • North Atlantic Zone: It includes states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Delaware, etc.
  • South East (Carolina) Zone: It includes states of North Carolina and South Carolina
  • South West (Texas) Zone: It includes states of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, etc.
  • West Coast Zone: It includes states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, etc.

Each zone has a Zonal Coordinator who manages the affairs of the zone and report directly to the National President.

MEETINGS.

  • General meeting /annual convention is held every year on the second Saturday of July.

DUES

  • One time registration fee of $50
  • Annual membership due of $150
  • One time development levy of $150

The total payment to be a member in good financial standing is $350.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

  • The organization is committed in assisting its members in case of death and other circumstances. In case of death of any member who is in good financial standing, the organization will give the family $5,000 for funeral expenses and $300 for “ego nsi egbe” (condolence visit money). The organization is planning to have life insurance coverage for all the members that are in good financial standing. Voluntary contributions are made by members to any good financial standing member who is experiencing extra ordinary problems, such as immigration, deportation, homelessness etc.

CONSITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

  • The constitution of the organization and By-Laws may be altered, amended, repealed or added to by an affirmative vote of not less than two-third (2/3) of the members.
